    Hi

What was the default for originally? how much for? Did you get a proper default notice at the time? have you requested a copy of it to check it is legal?

When you say you have requested it be removed is this in return for it being settled? or in return for a F&F?
Is the debt still owned by the company who put the default on?

  • Hello

The default was orginally for £376. I have request default removed for full anf final, but wondered if they say no can I ask the amount to be put back to the orginally with out the interest and fee, which would make it £250.

It is with the creditor, I have done all the cca letters and default letters and have also complained as it was in dispute when the default was raised but no notice of the default this has no been provided but I just want it cleared as I would like to get remortgage or new one and with this default being over £250 is not helping my rating.

So either if it can be removed or lowered would help.

I've not heard of anyone getting the amount of a default reduced. Who has said that if it was for less than £250 it would affect your rating less?

  • I have spoken with a mortgage advisor and also the post office, plus a lettings agent.. quite a few I guess

They have all said a default or ccj under £250 is less looked at. Which i don't understand as I would think one over £1000 would be worse.

I get the feeling defaults are classed the same as CCJ's nowadays..

I ve not heard of it being reduced just the amount you pay or the default being removed but wondered if anyone knows anything about it or has done it

If they won't accept removing it for a reduced F&F then maybe you could try either
    1) marking it as settled for a F&F or
    2) removing it for a full settlement

Alternatively fight them to remove it as they didn't supply a default notice. Request copy of Default Notice - Formal Demand
