Sainsburys Nectar Points / Flights ?

I had saved enough points over the last 5 years for what I initially thought would be enough for flights to America....Now I have 35,000 points, it seems Sainsburys have changed the reward system and they dont seem to be worth as much as they originally were.
Does anyone know anything about this and have any ideas as to how I can change them to get either airmiles or more value for money?
Thank you in advance:)
Sorry if i have put this in the wrong place but i am very much new to forums!!

What do you mean they changed their flight rewards??
Experian was always 500 points = £2.50 off, ever since I remember... What was it before??0 -
For as long as I've been a member of Nectar about 6 years 1000 pts transfers to £5.00.2011 Sealed Pot Challenge #1238 hoping for £250 ~ saved £743.32
2012 Sealed Pot Challenge #1238 hoping for £250 ~ saved £435.75
2013 Sealed Pot Challenge #1238 hoping for £300 ~ saved £521
2014 Sealed Pot Challenge #1238 hoping for £400 ~ saved0 -
The choice of airlines and booking has definitely changed. When I first began saving, there was a wide choice of airlines, and therefore price were more competitive, and you could also use part nectar/part cash in whatever ratio you chose. Then it changed to Virgin flights, now it seems that you can only book through Expedia with a maximum of points per flight.0

When was that? I am with them for about 6 yrs and it was always worst then it is now - but the travel choices stayed about the same...
Sorry to hear that you don't have enough for the flight, you can still pay the rest in cash now though.0 -
Thanks, its just really annoying as friends with tesco loyalty cards/airmiles seem to get a much better deal than anything Nectar offer :0(0

Yep, it is constantly discussed that Tesco clubcard points are much better value.
However that is also due to change, there are whispers (not confirmed by Tesco yet) that there will be changes by the end of this year...
We already know and it is confirmed that the amount of Airmiles you will get for your Tesco points is going down and the whispers say that the rest of the deals will go down too...
I have just done my own calculation on Nectar versus Airmiles for flights and for flights I have decided for Nectar actually - because unless you have full amount of Airmiles needed for flight you cannot fly (you can pay something in cash, but given amount and that is sooo not worth it, it is well expensive) and it will take £100 of Tesco vouchers for flight to Zone 2 from Manchester. When you can get better value on different deal. And it takes while to collect that.
Where on Nectar - Expedia offers many different airlines including budget airlines, so you can get flight to Zone 2 (I was looking at Prague) for less then £100. AND you can just use whatever amount of points you have and pay rest in cash. You don't have to wait to collect the full amount.0 -

Oh dear, I didn't know that. Where did you get the info from? Looks like I'll be exchanging all my Clubcard vouchers for Airmiles as soon as possible!
How much is the "exchange rate" going down by?0 -

Received a letter from Tesco themselves...
If you were the premium customer (The very old scheme) and was collecting 80 miles per £2.50 voucher it is going down to 60 miles and if you were collecting 60 miles (like me) then you will be getting 50 miles..
As of 1st September.0 -
Great, thanks. Will be exchanging shortly! 10 miles fewer per £2.50 adds up when you're exchanging a whole load of vouchers...
Appreciate the help.0
