Calculating Holiday Pay

I get 22 days plus bank holidays a year, running Jan - Dec. I work five days a week, full time.
I am leaving on August 31st and they are going to pay me all the holiday I am entitled to this year as I have taken none.
I have found a calculator for stat holiday but can't find one where I can put in my holiday entitlement.
Can any one point me in the right direction, or even work it out for me - thanks!

I assume you mean 22 days per year plus bank holidays (i.e. 30 days)? Otherwise this would be illegal as the statutory minimum is 28 days!
Assuming you have not worked on the bank holidays you will in fact have taken 6 days holiday by the time you leave.
(New Year's day, two days Easter, two days May, one August).
1 Jan to 31 Aug is exactly eight twelfths (two thirds) of the year.
It then depends how your contract is worded.
So......
If your holiday is actually 30 days inc Bank holidays then...
Eight twelfths of 30 is 20, less the six days I assume you have taken leaves 12 days to be paid.
However, if you holiday is 22 days PLUS all Bank holidays then.....
Eight twelfths of 22 is 14.7 days which should all be paid.

Thanks very much, I should have made myself clearer, I get 22 days holiday and the bank holidays on top.
I have been off on maternity leave for the whole time, does this change things?

If your contract is worded 22 day plus all bank holidays then my second calculation is correct. (Which helps).
I don't know the maternity position I'm afraid but hopefully somebody else will.0 -
After some rooting around it would appear I get paid for my bank holiday on top so 14.7 days and 6 bank holiday days.
Will go towards clearing some debt!

Ah, but, have you already been paid for your bank holidays? In other words, have you been on Statutory Maternity Pay during that time, or an employer's scheme? I've been on SMP for the whole time, I'll get the bosses to double check with the wage clerk, hopefully I am entitled to it because it'll be a lot of money to throw at my debt.0

Sorry to hijack - but you all look like you can help me - I am starting a new job on 31st August, We have not agreed holiday entitlement terms yet, he stated normal/reasonable amount on the job offer email. I want to know where I stand and what I am entitled to before I go and he tells me what I get and I stupidly agree without knowing the facts.
I will be working 4 days a week Mon, Wed, Thur, Fri (Tuesdays I will be attending college to learn accounting to coincide with my new job, employer aware of all this)
I will be working 5 days a week during school/college holiday (no college tuition then) which will not amount to many (maybe 8-10 days extra a year at most)
What yearly holiday entitlement should I be getting for 4 days a week (excluding bank hols)?
And what holidays should I have left to take this year (as I will be starting work from 31st August)
Also - what should I do about the extra days I will be working in the holidays?
It would be great if you could help....

Minimum statutory is the equivalent of 5.6 weeks, which is 28 days including bank holidays for someone working 5 days pw.
On 4 days pw you therefore get 6.5 days worth of bank holidays, and 16 days of 'normal' leave.
Now you need to know when the leave year starts, but if it's January, you divide those by 12 and multiply by 4, because you'll be working for 4 months to the end of the leave year. If it's not January you work out how many months it is.
As for the weeks when you work 5 days per week, you may not get any extra leave for that. It depends whether that arrangement is contractual, or just a friendly arrangement. If it's contractual, ie the employer says "for x weeks a year you'll work 5 days pw not 4" then post again and we'll tell you how to deal with that ... If it's just a friendly arrangement, then you may not be entitled to more than the statutory leave for working 4 days pw.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

but really you need to check your contract as Bank Holidays CAN be included in your holiday allowance.
And little otter I would check if you are having paid day release from your employer for your college attendance or at least try to negotiate it.

On 4 days pw you therefore get 6.5 days worth of bank holidays,
I have seen part time contracts that give XX days leave (pro rata) PLUS bank holidays if they fall on the days normally worked!
So, if somebody normally works only on Mondays and Fridays they do well out of this.
On the other hand if they normally work Tue, Wed and Thur then the only bank holidays they will ever see are Christmas and Jan 1 in certain years. Obviously they sill have a statutory right to 28 days pro rata.........0
