What to wear for a CC Small Claims Track Hearing

Hi All

Bit of a numpty question, but does say somewhere there is no such thing as a silly question.

Got a County Court Small Claims Track Hearing coming up in a few weeks. Just wondering what the etiquette regarding clothes was.

Suit or smart casual? Obviously no jeans t shirt etc. But do I need to wear a tie and be really formal?

Thank you for not laughing (well I can hear you at least) :)

Hi NC35, I'd say either would do. Whatever you feel more comfortable in. If you do wear a suit then I think a tie is a must, but for smart casual, you'd get away without wearing one. No trainers either;)

    Thank you Marisco

Silly this - never been in this situation before and worrying about everything with weeks still to go...

Suit and Tie I think, but don't want to look over dressed, but want it look like I have some respect for the Judge and courts...

I know what you mean, but I wouldn't overly worry about it. I've done a lot of voluntary work which involved quite a bit of court work, and you'd be surprised what people turn up in:eek:

    There is no dress code.

But if in doubt, a suit with a tie, you can't go wrong.

As an alternative you could go top button off and no tie, this more casual appearance is more common at work places.

And if you don't own a suit, well then i guess drop down to the smartest thing you have to wear.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
