Food Mixer: Kenwood Chef?

Our old food processor has died. I would like to buy a food mixer, the type with a large bowl and arm that lifts up. I am lusting after a Kenwood Chef. They are expensive, but such good quality last 10 years at least. The classic model is £153 on amazon.
I wonder do I really need a Kenwood Chef though? I will probably only use it for making family cakes at most twice a month. In the future though I may branch out to bread making.
If you are a occasional cake maker what mixer do you recommend?
Thanks in advance. I dont come on here often so forgive me if its a while before I reply.

I am an occasional user, and I ended up getting a Kenwood Prospero - it takes up less space than the Chef, and it does the job quite nicely. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Yes you do need a Kenwood

I'm a keen baker, and have treated myself to a Kenwood Premier, I love it! It has truly revolutionised my baking, everything comes out so nicely, and it's fab to switch it on, walk away and let it do the work. Love love love it! I have been known to pat "Ken" lovingly and give him a good wipe down before popping him back in his nice warm cupboard :rotfl:
I got mine from Amazon.0 -
I love to make cakes too, and I got a Kenwood Chef a few years ago for my birthday! I love it and I ordered a special cover from Kenwood to keep it nice and shiny and clean!
I have been doing an evening class in cake decorating and gradually most of the class have acquired Kenwood Chefs and none of us would be without them, so I think that is a definite recommendation!:j Is MSE saving me money, or making me spend more on all the bargains?!:j0 -
