    It looks to me you should be OK - see section 5.2, page 12.Particularly if your son is on some kind of benefit, eg incapacity benefit, then it should be no problem at all.

    I would just check it with your local CAB to make sure, but it seems unlikely you need to make any special arrangments.

    It's wise though IMHO for all older couples to split their assets up half each.This might involve switching the technical ownership of your home to "tenants in common" , which is a routine change.It just means that if one of you goes into a home, then only the half of your joint assets owned by that person will be taken into account for payment - not the other person's half. This is now the rule, but it's as well to make it legal just in case, particularly as you've got a lad who needs ongoing support.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)
