Makes you wonder if she's prepared to share the $114m with other people who didn't get a cup of coffee? ;)

It depends how you view vouchers etc. My take on it is that if you come across a voucher that wasn't specifically intended for your personal use then you run a risk of it being withdrawn.

It's a cup a coffee! By all means make your point, but sue for $114m!!!! :rotfl:

Probably on the back of the voucher they'll say that they can change the terms of the offer at any time. To me this is opportunistic at the best

  • Good grief! What a load of rubbish. I hope it gets kicked straight out of court - what next? I think I'll sue Tesco or Asda the next time I go in and there's a space on the shelf advertising their latest buy one get one free that's out of stock and, horrors!, they've not removed the shelf advertising  Think of all the people who've lost out on their free tin of beans, packet of biscuits or loaf of bread.

Yes, Starbucks should probably have thought this one through first before launching it out into the great unknown but at the end of the day it's a bl**dy cup of coffee they've lost out on. Not the chance to get a transplant or win the lottery. Some people need to get a grip and get a life.

I think people are miss understanding the American legal system - the reason the law suit claim is so high is because it's aimed at being a class-action. We don't have them here so to speak - but it allows everyone with an identical complaint to 'join' the action.

As it was an email voucher just sent to staff and telling them to pass to freinds and family I doubt there was a statement saying it may be withdrawn at any time.

To be honest if starbucks lose we may see freebies vouchers dissappear with company's scared of getting sued if they don't honour the voucher.

Can you imagine if everybody who has ever sent off for a freebie that never arrived decided to sue the company that made the offer? We could pull down large company's in one single stroke.
  • I hope starbucks loose the case but not $114 million. They should be taught a lesson, but not punished.
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!
