Then thats the cheapest you are going to get. Others are quoted £3.5k-£4k so yours is one of the cheaper ones.

Try Admiral, Adrian Flux And Tesco's. Also Try checking with there actual Websites and not through Comparison websites. Part from that you will be lucky to get anything under £2k based on your other quotes.

Remember You must be Main Driver on your insurance, Using parents as main drivers is illegal and called "Fronting" and also insurance companies will class you as a boy racer until your around 23.

got my 18yr old son insured for 1.5k on a 1.1 hyundai i10 including breakdown cover

take pass plus add an experienced older driver as named driver and look at a restricted policy which has a tracker fitted. we used i-kube but i understand there are others.

all 'normal' quotes were £2.5k + but majority refused to quote.

While you can't put your parents on as the main driver, you can add them as a named (occasional driver) and this will often bring the premium down a bit.

  • Unless you were with a stupid insurance company which wanted to charge an extra £80 for adding your father who has 20 years driving experience, lol. Luckily when I got my new car, I changed insurers, and I added my dad and sister, and it knocked off around £900 altogether, my sister has never even drove the car yet, and probably won't, lol.

And just because a car is in a low insurance group doesn't necessarily make them the cheapest to insure, insurance is calculated on numerous different things not just insurance group, that's often why you'll find a larger car in a higher group might be cheaper or the same to insure, as compared with a typical young drivers car i.e. Corsa/Saxo etc. etc.

Have you bought the car already?

If so, you can only do the stuff that has already been suggested.

im female and passed when i was 36, although obvioiusly nothing like the quotes you're getting, mine was still relatively high compared to friends and colleages, it was in the 700 mark as a new driver with no NCD. so i put my elderly dad on as a named driver and that knocked about 100 off or so. 2 years in, for some reason, (possibly because he is now over 75) it cost more to have him on, so i took him off

3 years later, mine has now come down to 307 (but that was with a bit of arguing and begging on the phone), next year i hope to be in the 200s
  • Also I forgot to mention, don't take comparison site quotes as gospel, get on the phone, and talk to people, I know it's tedious going through the same details with people over and over again, but it might pay off a little bit.
