Working for aldi

Ive seen that aldi pay £8 an hour rising to £9 an hour!, thats surely got to be on of the best supermarket payers by far?
I was wondering as anyone had experience working here as the pay seems pretty damn good, even though it may not be an idal role:beer:

Yes the pay is good, but it is extremely hard work, and you will be expected to work more than your specified hours for no more pay (at least half an hour before and after your shift).
    Gone ... or have I?

Aldi and Lidl are good payers, anecdotally the reasons for this appear to be the fact that there's generally only a handfull of staff in the store at any one time, you're expected to go and do picking and packing if there are no customers waiting to be served and you cash up your own till at the end of the shift.

At least if you're busy the time goes quicker. :)

yes pretty much, you get a good wage but you have to do alot of work for it but it can be pretty good, you could earn some more by getting petrol money from travelling to another store but depends if theres new stores opening up in the region of your store

one of my friends works for Aldi and hates it, though my mum used to work on checkouts at Lidl and enjoyed it a lot, so I guess it just depends on the store and the management

One of my closest friends started a graduate scheme with aldi last September (the £40k a year wage packet and audi company car attracted him) and left by January. Despite being academically very talented, he isnt a machine and couldnt physically sustain the workload he was asked to do!

He now really regrets starting as its abit of a black area in his life/cv.

Not sure how relevent that is to you OP, but its the same company I suppose. They certainly seem to make you work hard for your money...

your mate would have had more work than the general assistants as he was on a graduate scheme,
