new garden shed - wood or metal?

I need a new shed and have been thinking of getting one of the galvanised metal ones which are maintenance-free. However, my neighbour says they are bad for damp/condensation.
Anybody have any experience with them?

Metal sheds are truly ugly works of the devil

Actually they do have there uses but the downside is where and how to hang stuff and they are a good deal more ugly than the wooden variety.
That said, we used to keep a washing machine in one.
Why ? Because on spin dry it would have ultimately shaken a wooden one to bits.
As regards maintenance i had a wooden one for 15 years from new in my old place before moving and did nothing to it. It was still dry and sound when we moved out.0 -
My neighbour has one and when it rains with a little wind it makes a hell of a lot of racket. Keeps me awake for hours. But a least there hard to burn down lol,0

The wood shed must take a lot less energy to manufacture than the steel one. Therefore much more eco-friendly. Wood is also a sustainable crop.Nice to save.0

Always go for for a good quality shiplap shed, it will last for many years and easier to fit shelves etc than a metal shed.0

I have a metal one that has a 20 year warranty on it, it came with 3 thousand screws and washers(much to the disappointment of the 2 male friends who volunteered to erect it!) It has now benn standing for 8 years hasnt moved (even though its still awaiting its anchor screws), doesnt make noises and hasnt lost any colour. It has also had a trellis put around the house side so that it isnt ugly. I havent noticed any damp in there and I have 1 rack of shelves for storage, as most things in there are for trying to keep the garden tidy, and they need floor space!
Hope this helps0 -
