There is a Bournemouth Air Show festival for four days from Thursday 19/8/10 until Sunday 22/8/10. It is completely free to watch and details are at http://www.bournemouthair.co.uk/.
Red Arrows are flying on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but NOT Thursday.
I have been the last 2 years and will be going again this year. The air show is at fantastic location along Bournemouth sea front and there are loads to do as well as see.:)

Just a warning, I am from Bournemouth and know how simply terrible the transport can be on these days. The beach too is simply packed.
If you want to go it is a great day out, here are my tips:
Bring a packed lunch, the more the better. Queue's for food will be extremely long and very expensive.
Bring lots to do in the car. Parking is limited and traffic jams very likely, don't be surprised if you get stuck in traffic for 1-2 hours! Top up on petrol and avoid buses. If you are in the town, local or staying and want to use the bus, then don't as they fill up quick at the start of the routes and simply drive by you full up (it doesn't help that the language schools students have already been filling up local buses).
Keep hold of your kids! If you loose them in that crowd, I would be surprised if you found them again without police help!
I've never seen Bournemouth as crowded as it has been than at these festivals.
On the plus side, this really is a wonderful event, there is so much to do and see and you will love it. :0

Emma-freebies is right.
As well as watching the show from the beach, you can also watch it from the cliff-top. I go to the East-Cliffe side, which is superb as their are loads of lovely properties, hotels and plenty to do. For info, East-Cliffe is a 10min walk from Bournemouth railway station.
I really recommend the event. It is a fantastic day out !0 -
Thanks for this.
I'm off to Bournemouth in a few days for a holiday with the family; so will spend at least one of the days at the air show.
It looks really good.:)Have a beer! :beer:0 -
I hope you enjoy your family holiday down here, it really is a lovely place, there's always tons to do.
Every Friday, apart from the Air festival one, there is something called Friday Family Fiesta in the Lower Gardens. This event is free and alot of fun. I have friends who perform a fire show in it. Then at 10pm there are always fireworks.
Look up on Bournemouth websites we always seem to have tons of free family fun days and events down here which is such a money saver.
Parking wise, I recommend the Winter Gardens parking, best to look it up, tourists never seem to find this one and locals love it, it's near the beach and is the cheapest parking around.
Have fun!

Avoid the roads around bournemouth at the end of the displays they are gridlocked even the dual carrageway.
Bournemouth air festival is fab especially on a nice day, you can sit on the beach and the kids can play in the sand.
Just a few more tips
.Dont stay by the pier its packed instead walk along the prom towards boscombe pier this is less crowded and the central flying point
.If you can, avoid driving parking is terrible It takes ages to get anywhere out of Bournemouth after the displays
.stay in the town abit later or leave earlier before display ends to avoid the worst of it.
.park on a road around branksome and catch a bus or the train they will be packed but its only very short distance by train.
.Use the Littledowns park and ride fairly Quiet last year and the bus takes you to the overcliff(above the beach) I think you pay per car.0
