Wheat prices reach 22-month high
Wheat prices have hit a 22-month high after a severe drought and ensuing wildfires in Russia devastated crops. Prices have risen 50% since late June.
Concerns are growing that the rise will lead to an increase in prices of flour-related products such as bread and biscuits. "Animals are fed on wheat or wheat derivatives and therefore this will feed through indirectly into meat and poultry prices, so this will have a significant effect on food price inflation generally."

For once I'm glad to be wheat intolerant... however as I'm used to paying 4 x as much for gluten free products compared to wheat ones I still won't benefit LOL maybe it will make supermarkets reconsider using wheat as a cheap filler in unlikely places! If only closed minds came with closed mouths!

What a disaster. How will the world survive. As you said yesterday, before long the living will envy the dead.0 -
