HSBC Debt passed onto Metropolitan Debt Services

Can anyone help me....
I have had a letter from Metropolitan debt services demanding full payment of one of my debts with HSBC. They have also called me a few times and sent me a text, I have ignored all so far.
I am with payplan and have sent them an email saying Metropolitan have got in touch with me directly and emailed across a scan of the letter they sent. What should I do now, is it best to send Metropolitan a letter directly recorded delivery stating what I can afford to pay each month? Is there a template letter I should use? Or is it best if I let payplan do this on my behalf?
I have been paying HSBC the amount of £10.79 each month since Dec 2009 which they've been accepting. I can't believe HSBC have done this especially as I have sent them about 20 letters explaining my situation all of which they have ignored.
Any help would be great as I'm at my wits end!!

Metropolitan are hsbc in-house collectors, so they debt hasn't really been sold. Payplan should just send a letter to metropolitan and carry on the repayments as they have been doing.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Hi Missangel,
It can be annoying to be harassed by telephone by debt collectors, so I'll put a letter below you can send to them to ensure they only contact you in writing hence ending the abusive bullying and harassing calls.
Good luck
Dear Sirs,
Account No: XXXXXXXX
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing. I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls and I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only. I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine. Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company may be recorded and used in evidence and I expect this harassment to cease immediately.
Yours faithfullyIf you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

Hi Missangel,
I've been with Payplan since last September and HSBC/Metropolitan have been a thorough nuisance. I had several phone calls a day for months (all ignored!) even though HSBC accepted my DMP in December and then Metropolitan accepted it straightaway in April. After a couple of weeks I started to get letters demanding full payment and threatening court action ("may", not "will"), as Metropolitan wanted me to pay by the beginning of the month whereas all my other creditors get paid around the 17th (and are happy with it!). I sent copies to Payplan who were rather vague and said they could not stop HSBC taking me to court as a DMP is only an informal agreement.
Anyway, I posted on here about it and some very helpful people said that Metropolitan work on a very automated system and phoning them just to remind them of the DMP woiuld settle things down. I really didn't want to phone but instead sent a polite but firm letter reiterating that I was on a DMP, was paying them xx per month via Payplan, and that Payplan had already contacted them about payments and dates when the account was passed over. I finished with saying if they had any queries to contact Payplan. The letters seem to have stopped for now, as have the phone calls finally. Fingers crossed it stays that way! Now the whole thing has started again with my other HSBC account *rolls eyes*. I would see what Payplan say first but if it continues maybe try writing to Metropolitan. I hope you get it sorted out - it should hopefully settle down, it's just annoying!DMP Mutual Support Thread No 336 - proud to be a number!LBM - June 20th 2009Total of Horror  - [STRIKE]£39,909[/STRIKE] August 2010 £35,421 :jDFD - Feb 2018 (approx).
