Coming at this from a slightly slanty angle- what's the £15k for? I ask as secured debt is the last type to plump for, so if we know what you need cash for perhaps we can find you another way?
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

Ok recently separated - approx 12000 credit card debt - not all my debt but all in my name - not smart i know but ..... and seriously need to do some work on the house - not making it nice just making it healthy for the kids. People have suggested debt management thingy but then I wouldnt i loose any credit rating i have - someone just suggested trying to use the house to my advantage....I have to admit I have absolutely no idea what to do or where to turn

Pretty unlikely if you only have income support coming in (and presumably child benefits etc). As these are meant to be the minimum you need to live and therefore it would be assumed you have none left over for debt repayments.

How are you currently paying the credit card repayments? have you kept up with minimums so far? A DMP would affect your credit rating and you wouldn't be allowed to take on anymore credit but if you own your house and don;t have a mortgage you'll need to move around does it matter if your rating is affected?

I think you are going to need to wait until you are in work (if that happens) before you will get any new credit. Its only a couple of months away. You might get your cards to informally agree to take reduced payments for a couple of months until that happens without affecting your credit rating (though you'll need to check with them what they would or wouldn't mark on your report).
A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give
