iqor debt

hi,
last month i got a phone call from iqor saying that i owed £2800 and payment was due immediately or they'd take court action.
never having had a debt before i was completely panic stricken, i told the woman i couldn't afford to pay the whole amount off straight away and she got super angry at me. i told her that i only worked part time and offered to pay £100 p/m. she said there was no way they could accept such a small amount and said £400 was the minimum monthly payment or i'd be taken to court.
i paid the first £400 on my credit card (it only has a £400 limit and this was the first time i'd ever used it) she then told me if i break the agreement to pay £400 p/m i'd be taken to court. i tried to tell her that £400 p/m was totally unreasonable but she wouldn't have it.

i'd just like some advice please, i'll pay the debt i have no other choice but i simply cannot afford £400 p/m. i'm terrified i'll be taken to court as i'll get a ccj and it will ruin my credit score :( is there anything i can say or do so that iqor will accept a smaller monthly repayment?

Take no notice, that is completely unreasonable.
    What is the debt for?
Do not ever speak to a debt collector, this is common behavior and they throw these threats around like aeroplanes.
Offer then what you can afford, whether that be £400 or £4, they will not be so disgusting in writing.

    Hi

If you really have a £2800 debt that is with iqor, your credit rating is already shot because you will have a default on it.

What is this debt supposed to be for?

What proof do you have that you owe the money?

And by the way cancel that card immediately as they will try and take another £400 ASAP.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • its for a credit card chargeback on paypal which they say they have no control over :( strange part is i never sold anything that even came close to £2800 so i'm guessing they must have added charges and interest or something. i also knew nothing about it until iqor rang me as i closed my paypal account a few months ago

Paypal are a joke and I dont believe this would ever go to court. I have been in a similar position myself but not for as much money.
Surely it is up to them to ensure all fraud checks are done on the buyer and seller + to make sure both parties are protected, after all they are taking a fee to process your payment.
Wait for more advice and do try not to worry.
  • i've been trying to read up on my problem as there seems to be endless stories on the net of the same thing happening but most of what i found was based in the US where the law is different so i just resigned myself to the fact that i'd have to pay it back :(
