buying a dress from China

Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times. I am going to an extremely formal ball in November and need a ballgown. I have looked at some on ebay from China and they seem stunning however I am a bit wary of this in case it is cheap and tacky looking or doesn't fit. My budget is limited which is why I am looking at the china option.
Has anyone has a positive experience and has any recommendations for sellers, conversely, has anyone had any horrendous experiences and can also let me know which sellers to avoid even if it is in PM
Many thanks.

I was very wary when a bride I was working for announced that she was buying her dress from China (through ebay). However, when it arrived, it was beautifully made, fitted her well and the fabric was luxurious and heavy.
I think if you stick to sellers with good feedback and pay with paypal so you have some protection then you should be ok.0 -
My DD's bridesmaids dresses for a friends wedding came via ebay/China, I was very dubious but looked at the feedback and thought it was worth a go.
The dresses were far better quality than you could buy here, an amazing finish to them.
I popped them back on ebay when they were done with them and sold them for 3 times as much as we'd paid for them.
But do check out the feedback, ask lots of questions (I needed to ask about the lacing on the back of the dress and they not only told me about it but sent pictures of what they meant)."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Thank you for this question
I too have been looking at the dresses from China as I will need one next year and was worried about buying. This has been a great help in making up my mind if I should buy or not

Generally speaking, Chinese stuff = cheap price + risky being fraud. So enough preparing is necessary, if you choose a honest dress store and pay with credit card, then you are doing the right thing.:rotfl:0

i have bought lots of items from ebay which has come from china hong kong. i mainly buy cocktail rings, bracelets and necklaces. usually they are about 99p with free postage. it is only fashion jewellery but had so many compliments and others then have gone on to buy same as me.
i'd be more than happy to take the risk and buy clothes from china. whats nice about it , you can generaly get a bit more of a unique design. which is fantastic.
Good luck with your purchase. i'm sure it will be fine.0 -
Bought my wedding dress and two bridesmaid dresses from a company in china two years ago - they were gorgeous! But like others said - ask questions, read reviews!!
