I have just taken out a cast Iron fireplace in my mothers house that had been there prob from 1930's in her bedroom. They prob looked nice at the time but mother moving to a wee bungalow and we are doing her place up to sell it - putting the gas heating etc in. is there anywhere in belfast or not too far away that would take these - if only even for scrap ? Mother had painted it with gloss paint !!!!but i see so many programmes saying these fireplaces are DESIRABLE ?
Anyone ?

hi, i randomly came across your query.........new to this website and forum.
i'm in the process of doing some work to my own wee house and always thought how nice it would be to unblock the chimney breast in the bedroom and put in a cast iron fireplace.......any chance you would have an image of the fireplace? I wouldn't mind taking a look. thanks.0 -
There is a salvage yard at Jennymount Street which is opposite the police station on the Shore Road you could try.0
