Lidl - I wanna pay the online price not in store price

Hi all
I was browsing the Lidl website and spotted an absolute bargain for £1.99
When I went to the store the actual price was £11.99
Can I (or other customer) claim that they are advertising cheaper online and pay that price?
Thanks in advance

They'll just tell you it's a pricing error.
These sort of things happen all the time. If you buy something that's mis-priced on an on-line store, they can cancel the order and tell you it was priced wrongly. You have no further comeback.Dave. :wave:0 -
ahh well, that's a shame.
There is no facility to order online, only buy in store.0 -
I've actually bought Goods at my local Aldi and paid the internet price although I had to haggle it out with the store manager but he honoured the online price in the end. It's worth a try, just tell him that you've posted a thread on MSE and it might persuade him to knock the price down.0

Well that's true. Don't ask, don't get.
Might be a push with such a large mis-price though. You could always print off a screen grab and take it in with you.Dave. :wave:0 -
Cheers all
I called in this evening, armed with a printed screenshot!
There was a notice up in small print:
'Due to an advertising error this product was incorrectly advertised on our website as £1.99 Actual selling price is £11.99. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused'
Was worth a try............ and no I didnt purchase lol0 -
This is taken from the Consumer Rights article of this website:Can you force a shop to sell you goods if you see them mistakenly under-priced?
No, sorry. If they're mis-priced the shop can refuse to sell you them. There is no contract until it has accepted the cash. Before that point they can refuse (and if it is on the internet even if they have accepted that case, it can argue using the Law of Mistake that the transaction isn't finalised).
Sorry to hear you couldn't get what you were after for the price mentioned on thier website. Though might be worth trying what punksluck has mentioned next time, and as you've mentioned, and arming yourself with a printout of the screenshot regardless of what is posted above. It's always worth a try.
Not sure if any shop would honour such a discount as you've mentioned though - £11.99 to £1.99.0 -

Thanks for the legal info, not sure I fully understand it lol
It was an under cupboard light, the price was still fair at £11.99, £1.99 was an absolute bargain, I would have bought half a dozen!
My main reason for no purchase was the G4 bulbs, which are very poor energy ratings. There are LED alternative bulbs but these cost as much as the unit itself....and there are 3 bulbs in each unit,
I would have to spend £46  before I would be money saving on electric, not very MSE0
