I'd say your best bet is to meal plan like crazy with the stuff you bought, and try to get meals for the rest of the month out of it. I'm sure it can be done - why not tell us what you have majored on and we'll all have a think.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Can you eat for free next week - what's in the store cupboard? Can you eat your way to the bottom of the freezer? It sounds as if you haven't menu planned/made a shopping list. I had a lightbulb moment over this when I realised we'd spent over £600  in July. (My only excuse is that some of this must have been husbands expenses on cash back).
There are some great menu planners on here if you need help or inspiration.

I've made a small plan to upload a Tesco giftcard with £50 every month, (this is for one) and that will be the only thing I keep in my purse.

I'm never going to have more than £5 cash on me, so any food bits I need will have to be bought on the giftcard.

That way you will seriously think about what you put in your trolley if you know you've only got that amount of money.

Do you still have any of the receipts. It might be that you're buying a lot of things for your cupboards but not any actual food IYSWIM. I've recently done this and found that over 50% of my bills are on snack items and bottled drinks, which I should be able to cut out, or at least cut down on. This may proove helpful.

  • Don't got to Tesco. Years ago when we were really broke, we ate very well by buying what we needed at the local shops. Cooking real food and making each meal last for 2 days.

I have taken to internet shopping, I only look at what is on my list, saves me a fortune, what I save outweighs the delivery cost. Changing from Tesco to Asda though as Tesco quality is rubbish and Tesco don't care.
