Just had Branston Chicken - very nice & very cheap

Options
Just had Branston Chicken and it was scrummy

Final cost was around £1.00 per person

Serves 4

4 Chicken thighs
6 large potatos chopped up
4 large carrots sliced
2 pints of stock or 2 pints of water and a stock cube
2 large tablespoons of Branston or similar pickle
1 squirt of brown or tomato sauce

Put in one large pot - pop in the oven for 1hr 45 mins (medium heat)

Serve with bread (as the juice is delish!)

    D'ya think it'll cook in that? Seems to be plenty of liquid sloshing about. Does much of it evaporate in the 1hr 45mins?

    The potatos absorb quite alot of the liquid however its was a rough estimate at 2 pints. It was enough fluid to cover the mixture well.

    It would work in a slow cooker however I dont have one so i dont know how long chicken & potato would take to cook through.

    Sweetish like a barbeque sauce..but not as pungent.
