And where would we get Divx format, Raihan.
  • Divx is another video encoding format, more highly compressed than Mpeg which you find on a DVD. This tends to be either encoded from existing material through an encoder or downloaded from the internet and played back on a computer which has the Divx codec and software. It's a bit like MP3 for video if you like.

I've just picked up an Archos AV480 portable video player, Divx being the format this takes.

Nah it's easy! You download a film, burn it to CD and can watch it on your home telly! It's almost as if these manufacturers are encouraging you to download movies...which is obviously not allowed. As it happens I have bought this DVD player, but I am finding it will just freeze when playing some DVD's so I might swap it for another one. Maybe the £39.99 one from Sainsburys?
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)

As you know JPS it is illegal to download the films. So this must not be encouraged by anyone.:)

Ebuyer are selling a DivX DVD Player for £39.99 inc VAT + P&P (chepest P&P is £3.99). It quite big in size but has played absolutely every media format I have (DVD+R, DVD-R, CD-R, VCD, SVCD) and has also played 2 discs that had stoppuing working on my old player!! Definitely worth a look at the price (see link below). Lots of reviews posted on the ebuyer site for this player including simply instructions to make it multi region (all done via the remote control in a couple of seconds).
