Hi, i am looking for a bit of advice...
It my mums 50th birthday very soon and we ae on tight budget re: her party. We are having a family BBQ. I however want to make her a lovely cake that she will remember although i am not the best cook in the world...
I was wondering if i wanted to make a cupcake display could i just buy plain buns from Tesco them do the rest myself? I could practice decorating the cupcakes but dont fancy making the actual bun?
Thanks in advance

I dont see why you couldnt do that. Have a go with a batch and do a taste test and see how they taste. If they taste nice then there is nothing to stop you

Absolutely you can! It'd be be a fair bit cheaper to make your own though if you're on a budget - even using a pre-made mix that you can buy in Tesco would be economical and not take much time. Good luck whatever you do, sure your mum will love the thought x0

I just used a packet of chocolate cake mix from Tesco (about 45p I think) for my last cupcakes. You just have to add an egg and water and they come out really fluffy and light:D You will probably get about 6 large muffin size cupcakes from a packet or 12 smaller ones.Feb GC £80 per week (Well I'm gunna try:whistle:)

Thanks guys, i could maybe do that. Im just afraid of burning the buns( i have been known to burn things)
With the frosting for the top- can this be bought in a supermarket too? I am thinking that and maybe a few wee silver balls, smarties on top!?Now a mother to my beautiful daughter OliviaBorn 10th Dec 2010 weighing 7lb 1oz
