I would miss them. I have worked hard to become one. You don't think I listen to Radio 4 because I enjoy it do you?
You can't work hard to become middle class. Don't kid yourself. You can only become working class with attitude.
You listen to Radio 4?

It just means that it's time to adapt to a new set of circumstances and look for the opportunities. Other threads on this forum have bemoaned the passing of pensions as if they were a god given right and many of (presumed) younger posters have basically said tough to us oldies who are having the rug pulled. So I'm afraid it's the same story for jobs for the younger ones.
If India is where it's at then invest in India
Passing of pensions? They still exist last time I looked.
So you're telling people that can't find a job because all the jobs have been offshored to invest in India? Not very logical - how can you invest with no money?0 -
I can aspire to middle income, I will never be middle class.
If I leave the class thing behind and concentrate entirely on income (which is frankly impossible in this country, I can buy Bodan to the cows come home, I will always be working class) I will survive.
A little battered and a whole lot angrier but I will still survive.Retail is the only therapy that works0 -
My god, what a depressing thread . Shouldn't this be on the fire and brimstone board.0

Just saying that the income you get from whatever job available should be invested wisely to take advantage of the global shifts in economic strength. Surely that is not beyond the skills of what are being called "middle class". Either adapt or become a dinosaur. The writing has been on the wall for decadesAwaiting a new sig0 -

Yeah, but the OP was arguing that middle class jobs will be offshored en mass, resulting in mass unemployment and no opportunities/no jobs for graduates.
The gains of made of investing a few hundred quid of savings onto the Indian stock market isn't going to offset the loss of losing your job or being underemployed for your entire life....0
