Hi i'm hoping someone can help me out here
I've been off work for one week with severe toothache (i've got a broken wisdom tooth which seems to be making every other tooth ache at the same time and the pain is unbelievable) and my workplace are asking for proof that i am unable to work if i have any more time off, but i'm not to sure how to get proof can my gp give me a sicknote or fit to work note or whatever they are called now or can my dentist give me something,
also sorry if this is in the wrong place
any help/advice would be fantastic, thanks

Why not just go to your dentist and have the pain dealt with and then you wont need a sick note? Doctors are not that crash hot on teeth. I have never been asked to provide a sick note for anyone as I dont know of any of my patients that have taken time off work for any length of time other than the odd day here and there. Normally after a day of pain that bad people make an appointment0

There's usually an emergency dental system in place for weekend hours. Perhaps you could go along and get it fixed today?" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Oh the joys of being employed as opposed to self-employed!!
We've got builders in at the moment, and the plumber nearly cut one of his fingers off (At another job, not at our house) a few days ago.
He was back at work a day later!
A dentist could write you a note explaining that the condition would be painful. It would be up to you to convince your employer that it would be so much that work was impossible. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

My dentist started removing my wisdom tooth on Friday & couldn't get it out. He thinks its because of extra long roots or maybe roots fused to the jaw.
After 30 mins of trying he patched me up (big wadge of filler over it)& told me he would refer me to the PCT for an extraction (by cutting the gum):eek::eek:
He expects that to take up to a month:(:(:(
Thats under a local, if I want a general or intravenous it will be 9 months - which is not an option:(:(:(
Its very painful:(:(:(0 -
