Suntan lotion - best one, best price?

Hi all,

Please can someone help regarding suntan lotion as I'm totally clueless and going on holiday very soon (only in the UK but you can still get surprised by the sun coming out!).
I think as we both have pale skin and can burn fairly easily, we generally get about SPF30. I checked in Sainsburys and Home Bargains and there's a 'sale' on at Sainsburys until September and Home Bargains prices are about the same as that...
Generally £3.99 seems to be about the cheapest price but I'm really not sure what might be the best to get or might be a bargain as there is loads of brands all about the same price - and Sainsburys own version?
If someone could suggest a really good deal anywhere or something good from personal experience I'd really appreciate it.
Many thanks

For myself I am an optimist - there does not seem to be much use being anything else.

try "once a day calypso" in home bargains £5.99 - its just like P20 that can be bought on the plane. Apply once a day all over thirty mins before going out and protected all day - even after swimming. excellent stuff. Also sold in matalan. I may sometimes top up with later on in the day with ordinary lotion on my shoulders just to make extra sure but dont get burnt.

Excellent, I'll go for that. I was just reading about that in the reviews.
The other lotion I had been using didn't seem to protect amazingly well. I was putting it on every hour or so but still got sunburnt...
  • If you are wanting after-sun as well then I recommend the Calypso gel (it's green, tea-tree I think) also from Home Bargains. I think it was something like £1.99 a bottle.

I know that last year the Asda brand received rave reviews

I used 'soltan once' this year and really liked it. Think it is still buy one, get one free and found it better than the normal soltan
