a mahogany-effect cabinet (with or without draws) for storage, one that can hold a fish tank on top...so needs to have a wide top..fish tank isnt small but isnt big either

Just a tip I learnt after trying to put a 15 Gallon Tropiqarium tank on a unit similar to the ones in your thread. There are no bracing points on a bookcase type cupboard and therefore the tanks overall weight cannot be evenly spread. Fish tank stands/cupboards are built with this strees factor taken into account. There is every chance that your tanks weight will disintergrate the joins on the cupboard leaving you with a damaged tank and worse.............. a series of dead fish......................... PLEASE DON'T DO IT
unless you have a very small tank
