Things that are "best before"

What's B & M? I'd avoid them in future - I very often keep things well beyond their sellby dates but that's MY choice - and in the supermarket, I always look for the best sellby dates for my food.0

Some good bargains in B&M :-) Think it stands for bargains & more?
I think the 'use by' dates are the strictest. I'd probably have bought the crisps if they would be used up pretty soon. From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0 -
Best before means exactly that - the taste will be best before a certain date. Eating it after then won't harm you but the goods may not be at their best. Use by is on products that are perishable and might make you ill if consumed after that date. It's illegal to sell items past their use by, but legal to sell items past their best before dates. Plenty of places sell discounted short dated or past the best before date items.0

thanks for the clarification. I have seen food on the shelves but with a sign stated as "dated stock" just these crisps were mixed with other crisps with longer BB dates.0 -

Does it?
The store manager in mine told me it was Bargain Madness, could be wrong though :rotfl:

In that case it wouldn't need the & between the words "Bargain & Madness"
It probably doesn't stand for anything. It's previous names were FAELEX LIMITED then B. & M. BARGAINS (W & R) LIMITED
Then again, the full stops after the letters could mean they are initial letters.0
