I am after a blu ray from overseas in australia and its only available there, with postage i think i can get it for approx £27.50 which includes shipping, if i got this would i pay customs vat and duty and if so what would they charge me on this?
I could ask them to send as gift, but if they did not do that and customs got hold of it was wondering what it was i would pay on fees.
I can maybe get this item from uk but its expensive and was wondering if its cheaper to get from oz,if i am hit by customs then it might not be worth my while getting it from there, please let me know what the charges would be

Vat would be about £4.70 and the Post Office handling fee I believe is £8.
That seems an unfeasibly low figure for something coming from Australia. You sure it's not coming from China? What's the name of the website?

The tax is only applicable to the price of the product, not for postage. The site should also remove GST for overseas shipping.
There are Blu-rays under $20 AUD on sites I've used in the past, though newer ones are nearer $45AUD. Shipping for a single item (DVD or Blu-ray) is usually around $6 AUD. Just depends on what the OP is ordering.
Exchange rate rate used to be $2.70/£1 when I used them, not the $1.70/£1 it is nowadays.Dave. :wave:0
