Terms & Condition-
Buy Windows XP Home Upgrade before 30 September 2006 or Windows XP Professional Upgrade before 15 November 2006, and within a week we shall send you a £40 gift certificate that can be spent on anything you like from Amazon.co.uk.
Simply use the promotional code which appears on your e-mail gift certificate when you make your next purchase, and £40 will be deducted from your order total at checkout. The promotional code can only be used once, so to take full advantage of your gift certificate, be sure that the value of your order is £40 or more before you check out.
But hurry--gift certificates must be used by midnight on 30 November 2006!

why would you buy XP when vista is around in a few more months?0
-
...because I don't want to be an unpaid beta tester for Microsoft. Better to wait a couple of years until all the bugs are ironed out

And because vista is likely to cost more than £40 perhaps0
-
Just to clarify, these call themselves 'upgrades' so do you already need to have XP installed?0

Microsoft Vista is free at the moment....
http://download.windowsvista.com/preview/rc1/en/download.htm (don't bother with the 64bit....problems galore, 32bit version is the one you want)
Ok, so it's only free for 6 months (it expires after that) & it might be a bit buggy, but those who have downloaded/installed seem very impressed (esp with this latest build)0 -
