Recycling CDs - where ?

Here are some suggestions:
webuydvds . co . uk (a company that will buy your old CD's, DVD's and blue rays)
therecyclingpeople . co . uk (they will accept your CD's but you will have to pay the postage)
CD Recycling
This company collects tonne load quantities of damaged or otherwise unwanted CDs from local manufacturers. They would not make a collection for less than one tonne.

Can anyone tell me where I can purchase the clock parts with which to make a cd clock as I'd like to have a go at making one?:j
Also I'd like to decorate it - any suggestions as to what I can use? What kind of paint etc will go onto the cd's surface ok?
Thank you!0 -

Take your pick:

There is a company called, funnily enough, recyclingcds . com (not sure if you're allowed to put links in?) Which make cds into clocks. They'll be happy for your donations.
I would expect they are up to their eyes in CD's.
People throw away far more CD's than they buy clocks. And very few people buy a CD clock, mostly if they do buy one it's because of the CD label.
e.g. you might be able to sell a CD clock made with a well known music CD showing on the face, but an ordinary data CD showing the writing side?
They may accept CD donations, but they will likely be doing something else with most of them.0 -

Looking at their website they put new labels on the cd's - you can choose one of their designs or download your own photo to have a personalised cd clock. The later being the most popular option from their own stats.
You're right that they send more cd's for recycling than they use to make cd clocks - there's just too many- but at least they're not ending up in landfill! :T:T

Make sure (if they are recorded data) that you scratch the surface with a sharp pointy object - prior to doing *anything* with them - to reduce the chance of any confidential data being read by someone else - I break my old CD/DVD's in half - prior to disposing of them for this very reason !!
If you just hand them over for "recycling" - you are leaving yourself open to identity fraud etc........
It is the same as giving someone all of your emails/mail etc - you have been warned.
Of course - this only applies to recorded data - not music CD's0
