I'm getting frustrated now!!

I still havent heard from the Uni re: my start date and enrolment - I was offered the place in February (conditional on my avce grade & crb clearance which have both been accepted). I sent back my completed acceptance of place slip over a month ago and I'm just sitting waiting now, getting more fed up by the day! I've got everything organised, my finance has been in place for months and all I need now is to know what childcare to arrange for my children after school.
I decided to be proactive and so I emailed student services yesterday to ask if they could give me any info on start dates enolment etc and got this reply

Dear Samantha
We will be in contact with start details asap.
Regards K **** S***
Why wont they give me any info???

I thought I would be well on my way by now! So far I am not impressed with the HE system!

This isnt unusual my uni does same thing every yr they send start dates and details on getting id cards etcc at last possible moment! One year I found out when I was back through a uni friend cause my letter never arrived uselss or what!

So I would give them a bell if they dont reply soon but dont worry too much!
  • any chance you can ring student services instead? it sounds entirely bizarre that they can't tell you when it starts!!
perhaps contacting your department directly might work too?

ls_aly2000 - most of the students on this board are trying to get the most out of uni and not just be 'a bloody nuisance' - it can be an entirely mediocre time, but it can also be great ;)

Do not worry mate they often will not write to you until a month or so before you start. Give them a call by all means and they should be able to tell you a date

Don't they have term dates on their website?
I know when I did my undergrad degree the term dates were set years in advance and published on the website.

  • Thanks for all of your replies! My friend rang student services and they couldnt help her either (we are both on the same course - or will be eventually if we ever get there!!) The term dates are published on the website for main campus, but I'm doing my 1st year at a partner college and it just says we have to wait until they write to us! I havent had so much as a welcome letter from the college I will be studying at which I think is a bit shoddy. They've even had 2 open days that I wasnt invited to (or so I have just found out) so I dont know anything about the college or where anything is. Don't they realise what a big deal things like this are to 1st year students!!

  • Woohoo good news!! Postman just brought me a letter from the Uni, I'm starting next Wed for 3 days induction. Then every Wed, Thurs, Fri 9am -4pm!! Yipeeeeee!!

Now I just have to figure out what to do with my 4 yr old next week coz he's still on half days at school (8-45 - 12-50 next week) He doesnt start full days until 25th.

Still all is well!! I am very happy now.

Thank you to everyone who replied or pm'd me, your support has been very much appreciated!
