I'm looking for a good camera - preferably Samsung, Sony or Canon - with live view, video mode and a decent zoom. Have £300 maximum to spend.

Any ideas or good websites?

I've recommended this one before and it is still relevant and current: The Canon PowerShot SX200 IS is a great camera, with 12 megapixels and generous 12x optical zoom. Wide angle pictures, and HD (720p, 30fps) video recording. Right now there is a bangin' deal going at Jessops for £189 on this model with free delivery - the next best price is £234 so you are saving a packet right there.

The SX200IS has other nice to have features like anti-blur, face detection etc, but just read up about it and you'll see.

Have just bought the above....best ever.

12x zoom, wide angle, HD video, Leica lens, best you can get....can't fault it.

Price, Amazon, frre delivery about £190.

I would highly recommend the Canon EOS 350D Digital SLR Camera as a semi-professional camera. it has interchangeable lenses and a quality sensor to produce fantastic photos. I've had mine for around 6 months and I was a bit of an amateur when I first bought it. Now I'm taking photo's all the time, I'm totally hooked and spend a lot of my time down at my local nature reserve snapping some of the rare birds down there (no, not that sort of bird!!).

Both the cameras are good but I suppose it all boils down to what you actually want to use it for.
