Help me out with my ming-a-ling feet

Okay so my feet are looking and feeling a bit... tired after all the sun and sandal wearing FROM ABOUT A MONTH AGO!

I'm taking, dry flakey razor skin, dry cuticles, dry nails etc I could really do with a big buck salan pedicure but that wouldn't be very MSE of me would it?

I have a Ped Egg, pumice stone and always use Palmers Cocoa Butter Jar on my feet and while that did have my feet plumped and ready for summer in previous months it isn't quite cutting it.

Should I be soaking my feet? What are Epsom Salts and what do they even do - surely putting you feet in a brine solution would be quite drying?

What do you lovely people do to keep your feet looking good? Are you suffering from ming-a-ling feet as well?
Two thumbs fresh!:money:

I use Sanctuary products on my feet.

I soak them for a few mins and use a pumice stone on them then use the pumice rub stuff from Sanctuary. I rinse it off then use some of their salt. To finish them, I use the heel softening cream (all over them though, not just the heels!)

My feet have never felt better!

I use a Microplane on the dry skin now but for years I used a basic footfile from Boots and just had to do it a little more often.

I'm using Scholl Cracked heel repair cream at the mo - and I like it even more than Flexitol. It has an instant foot make over effect as well as a longer term effect off staving off hard skin - and my heels will definitely crack if I allow them to.

It's £5.99, but one special offer at Boots at the mo' Buy one and get one half price. I also got Scholl Callus & Hard Skin Reducing Cream, but I've only tried that once just to see what it was like to use so I can't speak for its effects.

I rub whatever foot cream I'm using around my toenail cuticles as well to stop them from getting rough, and Use Nails Inc Striptease about once a week, but I won't really know effective that was until it runs out and I have to do without it. :D

You could always try a fish pedicure? They nibble away the dead skin and are supposed to leave your feet lovely and soft! I've read it feels like bubbles on your skin.
Would love to try it - nowhere near me does it tho.

    Seconded.

This stuff is amazing. It is expensive at £16.50 a tube, but it really is worth it. It smells gorgeous and lasts for ages. Most importantely, for me, it really works.

I soak my feel. Use a pumice stone and then cream. Cotton socks and bed. Their handcream is fabulous too. I used to go through tubes and tubes cos my hands always felt dry. With the L'Occitane cream, some days I forget to use it cos my hands are never dry.
  • hmmmm... not to sure about the fish pedicure!!!

I have heard of it, and I know people who have tried it but I don't think I'd ever be inclined to actively encourage anything to gnaw on me....

Has anyone else tried it though?

I had the fish pedicure last month (with the voucher from Wahanda). It was absolutely fabulous and I am desperate to go back again. It worked really well and was a surprisingly pleasant experience, tickly but really relaxing. Appy Feet are opening up new branches all over the country and I believe they are cheaper than the place I visited (currently £45 for 30 minutes with the fish and foot massage after). Would definately recommend to anyone.

I'm the other way. I tried the fish pedicure last year in Cambodia. It was horrendously tickly (which did make it quite a funny event) but it didn't really help my feet that much. They seemed soft initially, but by the next morning they were pretty much back to their old minging self.

Good for the novelty but I wouldn't bother again to actually fix my feet.

I have never had a pedi- would love one byt cannot stomach the cost as my feet still work, its hard to justify just because they make me feel rubbish!

I have though had sucess with some products- or moreover, some methods. I think the key is that whatever you do, you have to keep on doing it every day or other day or week... and then when you have gotten your feet to a state you can tollerate or even like, you could maybe cut back on such regular self pedicures.

I used first pumice my feet- do this with dry skin as its very easy to pumice too far with wet or soaked feet. When you have spent enough time on them (do not try to get them perfect day one, its not going to happen that fast!), then soak in a foot bath. I have no idea what works best, for me I used a bathbomb from Lush as I just had so many.
Following that, then concerntrate on nails, trim, buff and polish- always makes even the magiest of feet look ten times better IMO!
Cover with moisturiser, something quite mild I think works best as I think the skin is quite dense (this is just my theory, it could be wrong!!) I find if I apply dense products they don't tend to soak in, they just sit on the surface, so a milk or oil rather then a dense creme or similar works best. Then put on a pair of socks for 12 hours /overnight to help the moisture soak in.

Repeat either every day or every other day for a few days but monitor it as if your pumicing too much you will be in pain, your feet will feel very sensitive, you don't want to get to that level so really concerntrate when you do any pumicing and stop if you feel you have gotten far enough. I'd say soak them every other night at least for a fortnight and pumice where neccesary and you should see a big difference by the end of it.
I did this about 2 years ago, can't remember the frequency but it did make a difference to all the hard heel skin I had.

Now I just put up with it- I'm so lazy!
