These boots are made for walking....

Hi,

what's the difference in men and women's uk walking/hiking boot sizes, is it only that women's are a bit narrower in the toe area.

The reason I'm asking is, I'm looking for a pair of walking/hiking boots, male 7 uk, checking out the sale pages of the outdoor shops, and maybe the male 7 is sold out in a particular style, but still available in the woman's, and sometimes the woman's are cheaper, so would they fit, or maybe a size up?

Thanks.

I have no idea how hiking boots work but know with trainers the difference is that womens trainers are narrower and the instep is higher, (womens feet are more curvey!).

I'd suggest trying them on for size though as if your walking alot in them the last thing you want is something that sort-of-maybe-could fit as blisters and infected blisters are hell to walk through!
  • Hi,

    thanks for the reply.

I was going to get them online, so if not suitable there's the nuisance of sending them back, and the cost of postage.

I was thinking boots seem to be more roomy in the toe area, never thought about the arch, "(womens feet are more curvey!)", mmm, curves everywhere, eh? :rotfl:

Agree about the blisters, no point in going through the pain to save a few ££££.

    Thanks.

Its an idea, but many sites do not offer free return delivery or do but its a hassle to get them to refund when you initially pay out, it also narrows your options as cheaper stores like sportsdirect wont offer free returns where as bigger chain stores can, sports direct for an example is cheaper and this could be one of the reasons why.

Maybe its worth visiting a store, trying on what you want and then going home to buy online, it is going at it the long way around but could save you money and returning things in the long run.
