I don't know anything about saucepans or which to recommend but I was recently reading through an article called "The Mettle of the Metal in Your Cookware" which talked about the different materials and metals used in pots and pans and explained the differences and benefits of each - I thought it was a bit obsessive to go to so much depth about what appears to be a trivial thing but then again, being a guy that doesn't cook for himself, what would I knowShin: a device for finding furniture in the dark.0

gnvqsos, I think you meant Viners Rialto:

You get a lot for your money but the big problem is they've got metal handles which means you'll have to use tea towels or oven gloves every time you use them. Stainless steel gets very hot and you've only got to forget to use a cloth the once to end up with some burns.
I've got a set of 3 Swan ss saucepans that I got from TJ Hughes a couple of years ago for the bargain price of £15 and they've been brilliant. They have plastic handles, glass lids with plastic handles and they're a decent weight. Unfortunately Hughes don't stock them any more. So here's a few suggestions to look at.
This Russell Hobbs 3 piece set is available from Asda Direct for £25 delivered or £20 to collect instore provided you order at least £25 worth of goods.

Amazon has this Ready Steady Cook 5 piece set for £40 delivered. It gets excellent reviews.

Finally, following poshcaz's recommendation, I've found this Stellar 3 piece set which costs £96 delivered
