Does anyone know where to get the cheapest Malorone tablets (not online). Morrisons are selling them for £2.97 each while Superdrug have them for £2.15. I have to get 37 for going abroad so not relishing the prospect of spending nearly £100! Don't want to end up like Cheryl Cole tho!

Travelpharm or superdrug online will probably be your best bet for malarone at around £2 a tablet. I tend to opt for doxycycline as its only 14p a tablet but you do have to take a tablet a day for 4 weeks after your return. Also it can make you sun sensitive,I did not find this and I'm a redhead! Hope this helps."Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0

I went to the Dominican Republic 16 months ago and bought my anti malarials from the local chemist. I don't think I'm allowed Malarone so ended up with some others that I had to take every day for 7 weeks and they still only cost about £3. OH had Avloclor and altogether I paid less than £6 for our entire courses. He did say when he went to Gambia a few years ago his anti malarials were about £60 so I know where you're coming from about not wanting to spend £100, but I very much doubt any of them cost that amount anymore. I think I had Proguanil but don't hold me to that.Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0

Don't know where to get the cheapest, but I just thought I'd remind people that different anti-malarials are prescribed for different parts of the world and also some treatments are not recommended for people with certain conditions e.g. epilepsy or if you plan scuba diving (Mefloquine shouldn't be used then) So what may have been good for someone else might not be applicable for you. Unless you are very certain of what you are doing I'd definitely stick with whatever your doctor recommends regardless of price, at least the treatment, if not the vendor. (Which I acknowledge was the OPs actual question)

SPCome on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0 -
My daughter just went off to South America for 4 months so believe me, we searched very thoroughly for the cheapest price. She had to have Malerone for the areas she was going to, and Morrissons was the cheapest by far, and Boots was the most expensive. They cost almost as much as her air-fare!0

Well said Stumpy, I was actually going to point out that a doctor should tell you which ones to buy. Don't just buy the first ones you hear about, or buy some that a friend took and didn't get Malaria. I have Epilepsy which is why I wasn't allowed to take some of the most common ones, and that's why I said don't hold me to account for naming the tablets I thought I took, and that's also why mine were a 7 week course and OH's wasn't. I'd still suggest talking to your pharmacist instead of going to Superdrug :-)Yaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me.
