I buy Cappucino sachets, hot choc variants, other brewed and instant coffees.

Is it worth splashing out on a pod type drinks maker? Does it work out expensive to replenish pods, availability issues and unique pods to each maker issues??

Argos have the £20 free voucher deal until Sunday, anybody noticed any half priced makers anywhere??

I love my Tassimo and the pods are available readily from all the big supermarkets. Price wise it works out about 20p a cup so I wouldn't use all the time but it's lovely as a treat. The Starbucks pod is nearly as good as the real thing. The good thing about the Tassimo is you can do teas and hot choc too. It's worth waiting for deals though as I have seen them for very varying prices.

I had the Dolce Gusto for xmas and in all honesty the novelty is starting to wear off as the price for the pods increases. When i first had it a few supermarkets were pricing around the £3 mark per box it has now started tipping £3.50 a box in a small amount of months. I only buy the latte and hot choc varients too.

  • I bought the Dolce Gusto machine a few months ago. Drink tea more often than coffee but do enjoy a nice coffee. Got the machine when it was offer half price, around £65. I buy the pods from costco, 1 pack of capachino & 1 of latte for £5.25, works out at 33p per coffee, much cheaper than starbucks!!

We have a Tassimo machine and use it quite a lot - but not for cappucino. They work out quite expensive as you have to buy coffee and milk pods so only get 8 drinks for around £3. Worse still, the milk is condensed and I find it leaves a bit of a sickly sweet smell in the air. Instead for cappucino I use a normal coffee pod and bought one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000BZ6BXE/ref=oss_product - Gives a much better drink.

I love my Tassimo - not so keen on the cappucino, but love the columbian coffee (or decaf at the moment while I'm pregnant). Hubby loves the suchard hot choc with an espresso added.

Had it for about 4 years now & still use it - would replace it if it broke:D

  • I can't live without my Tassiomo and simply adore the 'Milka' hot chocolate pods even though they are quite expensive. I've owned mine for just over a year now and it's the most used piece of equipment in my kitchen. The machine is very easy to clean and comes apart to make it even easier. They also come with a cleaning disc which you can use in the same way as the drink discs but it cleans the machine for you, brilliant!!!

I wouldn't bother. Get a coffee perculator if you like real coffee. Much cheaper and less fuss.

For me, it is a money saver as I use it instead of going to coffee shops with friends. (Before i had my ds i used to be there several times a week with friends, now i make the coffee and people come to me - ds can play and i don't need to worry plus it is alot cheaper than the £3 a cup i was paying..I rarely go in a coffee shop now!) It is not cheaper than making the drinks from scratch, but quicker and it makes me feel like i'm having a treat too. Tassimo does make drinks slightly hotter than the Dolce Gusto, and the range of drinks available with the tassimo is much better imo.

I bought a Tassimo last week and I love it. It is incredibly easy to use - no fuss whatsoever, and definitely less fuss than a percolator. Have tried 3 types so far and love them all.
