Help for parents

My dad is an electrivcian and has been struggling to get work. In the last few weeks its really picked up and hes been getting paid each week which is great.

The trouble is, as soon as some money goes into the bank, they take loads of it in charges before paying his bills so nothing is still not getting paid.

Do you think it would be best to open a new basic bank account and set all his bills up on that acct and get his wages paid into there? And then leave the other account for a bit, and cancel all dd and SO on that account?

Hes a bit clueless about what to do, and I really want to help him as much as possible, hes kind of just ignoring it which is not gettign us anywhere!

Thanks xx

Yes set up another account , have his wages paid into this and transfere all dd ,s to this ,try the co op, they are very good, then speak to the bank try and set up a repayment plan, it might be a good ideah to give us more information about these debts , we might be able to give more help.

Definetly get another bank account. I was getting hammered with charges a few years back and I wasn't able to break the cycle until I moved banks (and have never had a charge with the new bank). I think once you get stuck in the charges cycle its the only way out. You'll have to make an arrangement to repay the debt with the other bank though (took me a year and most of it was charges).
