Nationwide Won't Leave Me alone!

I was granted a DRO in October 2009 and included an overdraft with Nationwide. Ever since, I've received statements and demands for payments.

I received a default notice last week and now their in-house debt collection arm - KPR - have sent me letters.

I phoned them and told them I have a DRO, gave them the number, they insist that since CHild Benefit was paid into the account after the DRO was granted (which I wasn't able to withdraw anyway) they can still harrass me for payment.

Any advice? Please!

i thought if a debt relief order was given then all debts under that oreder were written off upto the sum of 15k ?

and if that is the case tell kpr to get stuffed.

Might be worth, going onto the insolvency website and you can search for your details on there
print it off and send it in to nationwide, they then have proof of your DRO and have to acknowledge it.
I would maybe phone the citizens advice and check where you stand on this one - i work for a finance company, in collections, so i know the system pretty well.. hope i helped? sorry if i rambled on :) hope things get better for you soon

Not exactly correct, the debt is not written of until the end of the DRO.

Under new legislation they can send statemants, but should not demand paymant, if informed of the DRO, but they will try there luck.

As for siezeing a benefit paymant after a DRO, no they should not have done that, have you contacted you OR office that is dealing with the DRO about this OP?
  • id tell em to stop wasting their staionairy as the statements their sending wont be needed for your records more like for them.lol.

    typical waster bankers.
  • KPR are great people aren't they!

While I was already in an agreed DMP with Nationwide this bunch of loonies started harassing me as well by phone and letter. I got tired of it all so I wrote a letter to the address on the latest threats stating that as a result of their communication all calls were being recorded; they still phoned.

One day they said "we have looked at the property you own and we consider it suitable for a charging order and we can make you sell the property."

I asked them if they received the letter dated X (not saying what it was about) they said they had.

So I pointed out that while we are benefitting from a recorded line; I did not appreciate the threats that they will make me homeless to recover debts that I am already in agreement to pay at a reduced rate (worked out about 85% of the contractual payments) and that considering I was still in negative equity on my mortgage they would not see anything of any forced sale.

Strangely they now only phone once every 6 months to confirm the whether there is any change to circumstances.

The moral of the story..... KPR are various explitives and fight fire with water, dousing their ego!
