SANTANDER credit card + A&L current account

Good morning All!
Just a little note (sorry if its in the wrong place or has been posted already!).....
Having spoken to Santander last night about a £12 late payment fee that has appeared on my 'Santander Zero' card statement this month - it would appear that there was a problem in July for anyone with a DD from an Alliance & Leicester account paying a Santander Credit Card. .
As the re-branding of everything into Santander takes place there was a 'glitch' and Santander didn't try to take any money from an A&L account, resulting in the late payment fee!
All late fees are due to be refunded, and I was giving the option of either paying the amount that was missed or they would collect it all next month (I paid just to make sure I didn't forget to budget the extra next month).
Customer Services at Santander seem pretty much unaware as to why DD's weren't taken, but Collections know more (probably due to the number of people calling in to query the lack of payment).
I must say to give Santander their due, they were very helpful and apologised for their error - even so, it cost me my time and 2 x phone calls to sort it out....... could I claim the cost of this back?
:rotfl:

I thought this might be to do with the new sort code for ex-A&L accounts, but we have 2 Santander loans which were paid, & a credit card which wasn't, so goodness knows.
Not a good start for them though! And extremely trying to have them ringing on a daily basis  (credit card is in DH's name & he's at work all day)0 -
I had a similar problem in January. I moved the DD from Abbey account to A&L account, both under the thumb of santandar at the time. However after changing the DD several times over the phone, it took the money out of the old account for 2 months before finally taking payment from the new account. I don't even see how they managed to attempt to collect the funds as there system was not even showing the old details.
I will be checking my CC statements now to ensure it is all working as A&L was done for maintenance this weekend.
The actual account transfer has just happened when i logged inImportant Information

We're delighted to inform you that your personal savings and current accounts have successfully been transferred onto the Santander system.
What does this mean to you?
We want to reassure you that you do not need to take any specific action as a result of the transfer of your accounts. You can continue to use your account details, manage your accounts and contact us in the same way as before.
You will still be able to use the Internet Banking service as normal but there are some slight changes that you will notice once you have logged on. These include:
Your Santander sort code and account number will be displayed.
You will be able to add any Santander savings and current accounts that you may hold to your summary.
Wherever there is a change to a process, we will provide guidance to help you complete your transaction – simply use the available i buttons or on-screen instructions.
For more information read ‘Your messages’ from your summary page.
Select 'Next' to start using the Internet Banking service.
My CC payment seems to have gone out okay. Although i do hateit you can't login to A&L (or abbey) and Zero credit card at the same time.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
