Civil ceremony music ideas needed please!

Hello, we've already decided on 3 songs including Everlong (Acoustic version) by Foo Fighters and One day like this by Elbow.
Not too sure on a few other tracks:
Strange and Beautiful by Aqualung
Black Spider by Mogwai (not bad but maybe a little too underwhelming)
Lujon by Henry Mancini (fab but doesn't go with the others)!
Anybody please have any ideas of tracks that go with the ones we've already chosen. I have read other music threads, but not really found any other tracks we like that go (all the classical and cheesy stuff is out) apart from a couple of tracks that I absolutely love but as they include words like lord and heaven we cant use them as we are having a civil ceremony. :A

A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

Can you consider instrumental versions of the songs you like that have religious words in?
IF it's a popular song, then everyone will be able to sing along anyway!!Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -
Such a shame you don't like the cheesy ones - we had "We've Only Just Begun" by The Carpenters, says it all really! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

Excellent choices! I know what you mean, each to their own and everything, but the thought of having everyones suggestions of Lianne Rimes or Shania Twain is just wrong. We are having exactly the same dilema.
If you like Elbow, have you thought about I Am Kloot? They are our favourite band and one of their songs is definitly going to be on our list.
If you want something atmospheric and acoustic, have you thought about Sigur Ros?0 -

Oh I adore cheesy ones, but OH only does on occasion, just not really what we envision for our little wedding though!
But I'm sure our first dance song will be pretty cheesy.

I LOVE Hoppipolla! That's on the short list for me walking in, along with Hans Zimmer, 'You're so cool'.
I would really really love 'A Fifth of Beethoven', cos that's just me all over, but don't think it would go to well because I'd want to dance down that aisle :rotfl::rotfl:
I found a guy on youtube, Brian Crain, and one of his called 'Sunshine' jumped out at me, it is soooooooo lovely, but so lovely that I can imagine myself bawling my eyes out
:D Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
There's several other threads on here on this topic, some quite recent...if you have a look over some of them you'll get loads of ideas.....though there's also a lot of us still struggling lol (am resisting temptation to be a real bore and post my OH's song link again!)0

Thanks, but I've already read them (more than once
) just looking for more "out there" ideas.

Nice tunes.
I've got spotify, but isn't it just typical Sunshine isn't on there (if google is right it's sunshine and blossoms from his 4th album which I can't find online to listen too)!

we are going to have 'One Day like this' by Elbow in our ceremony too... I like the idea of it for signing the register.
have you thought of Kings of Leon 'Use Somebody'? this is another contender for us though will have to read through lyrics first just to check!
there are a lot of old motown songs with lovely lyrics if you like that kind of music...fran-o0 -
I love the Kings of Leon (as does OH) trying to choose one of their songs is hard, as many have unsuitable lyrics, though not all! Also I'm worried I'll start singing along! :rotfl:
We've added another song to our list though I'll admit it is a bit unusual for a wedding... Tonight, tonight by The Smashing Pumpkins!
Spent loads of time last night listening to songs - wrong lyrics, too downbeat, to fast.... not that were really hard to please! :rotfl:A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0
