Argos Sale Price Query

I bought an iPod from Argos today not realising that today Apple released new versions of the player at a reduced price, therefore the Nano 4GB I bought for £169 will be reduced to £129.
I am in no doubt that Argos will drop the price in the next few days and was wondering is anyone knew of their Sale Price Policies.
Do Argos offer any kind of voucher or refund of the price difference within a certain period as some other retailers do.
I bought the item as a gift and it has already been opened, so I cannot simply return the player for a refund and buy again.
I appreciate your help on this one.

Not sure what there refund policy is on these but could you buy it again at the reduced price if they reduce it (must be in the next sixteen days) and take the reduced one back on the more expensive ones receipt? Naughty but Argos have more money than we do!0

have you broken the shrinkwrap on the ipod?know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

Yes the shrink wrap has been broken as it was bought as a gift for someone, who was obviously keen to open it.
When I purchased I was told that the player was exempt from the 16 day policy (I have confirmed this on their Customer Services section of their website), but the assistant agreed that it would be possible to return if the shrink wrap was intact.
I am keen to keep the player, but feel slightly annoyed that the price will be £40 cheaper in the next few days.0 -
i spent £600 on a pc in tescos last week, only for them this week to bring back the 5p off per litre of petrol when you spend over £50. unfortunately, we sometimes miss the boat in life. i would put money on the fact that my managers would tell you "sorry mate, but hard luck".know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0

Oh well, that's what I thought. Maybe I'll just drop a short e-mail to their Customer Services department stating my disappointment as a last resort. You never know, I guess there is no harm in asking.0

Get in touch with Apple UK customer services. I think if you provide them with proof of purchase they will refund the difference in price to your bank account or something, even though you didn't buy from Apple directly I would assume Argos are only resellers of the iPods and therefore will be replacing their own stock shortly.0

We bought some bedroom furniture online from them for home delivery, and during the two weeks we had to wait for delivery one of the items popped up in a sale leaflet. I rang their customer services and asked if they'd refund the difference, otherwise I'd turn the delivery away and re-order at the cheaper price. She said that they would refund the difference, but I'd have to wait until I'd accepted the delivery and the 14 day period was up. Needless to say the refund didn't happen automatically as they said it would (I think they count on you forgetting about it), but after a couple of nagging phone calls a cheque did arrive. Obviously you're in a different situation as already have the goods, but it shows that they will play ball sometimes.0

i think the best thing to do is to get in contact with apple customer services, although im not sure what they will be able to do for you.
As a an argos employee, i know that you can not return it, as it is excluded from the 16 day money back guarantee as it is an electrical device that holds information. Argos is very strict on this & technically you are not even allowed to return even if the plastic wrapping is still on it.
Also just to let you know that argos DOES NOT price match with other retailers.
hope this is of use
