Hello, We have decided to go for an IVA today, we need to get our act together and be taught a lesson, can anyone tell me what to watch out for and what are the disadvantaged on them. We are going tomorrow to open a new bank account with a different bank too, im quite scared and feel so ashamed but it needs to be done. Thanks in advance.

An IVA is a big step, the way I see it is that it is the final step before bankruptcy, have you sought professional advice on what would be best for your situation? If not you need to ring either cccs or Payplan, they are both non profit making and will not charge you for any advice.
If you decide that an IVA is the best thing for you Payplan have a sister company the Payplan Partnership who run IVA's, cccs do not run IVA's but will recommend a reputable practioner.
I have just had my IVA accepted by my creditors, the weight off my shoulders is unbelievable as if I had gone bankrupt then I would have lost my job and rented home which is tied in to the job.
I went through Payplan, they were excellent. Another poster has a thread about how an IVA works (under his circumstances which were the same as mine ie. no property or assets involved).
