  • I got a clay piggy bank from Spain last week, no hole in the bottom. Twas only 6 Euros. I think its handmade/painted, too.

I'm going to try fillng it with £1/£2 coins. I like it too much to smash though! May just stick a knife in the hole and get them out that way, it'll take a while if its full though :D

I'm now sat here thinking I really, really need one of these. Luckily I can't make up my mind which one I prefer.:D

I think that morty my mortgage piggy will have to do for now, but I have to admit to frequent raids of him :o

i would be wary of putting notes into a teramundi, incase the bank of england withdraws them from circulation, and you have no way to get them out to spend before they become invalid

much better to swap it for the value in coins and put these in instead - less likely to be withdrawn than notes. how long ago now since the old 5ps and 50ps changed?

Good point, though I *think* that it would still be possible for a good long while to take them to your bank to pay in. I fuond an old £20 a couple of years back when having a clearout and nearly cried, as it was a good two or three years after they changed, but I took it to the bank and they swapped it for a nice shiny new one! :T

I don't like the idea of spending £18 to smash it later

But I guess it's good if you get tempted to raid

I have mine in a lockable money tin from Argos (didn't even buy it, nicked it off mum) and just don't get tempted, might bank some soon though

  • I love this idea, but £18 is a bit steep, although they are lovely.

I fancy having a go at the balloon & paper mache with the kids at the weekend, we could make one each.

Any ideas how we make paper mache? Better go do a websearch
  • papier mache?

    1. Get balloon
    2. Slop glue on
    3. Stick strips/squares of newspaper on
    4. Slop more glue over the squares of newspaper
    5. Stick strips/squares of newspaper on
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5. Lots of times.
    7. Leave to dry.
    8. Cut a slot for your coins
    9. Paint.
