Curry sauce?

Can anyone recommend a nice curry sauce that is not too hot and doesnt have too much tomatoes in it?
I'm hosting my first ever dinner party tomorrow night which I am very excited about but also very nervous!
Its for OH's friend and girlfriend as he helped us move in a couple of weeks back so this is our way of thanks.
Their request is a chicken curry, but not too spicy or something with lots of tomatoes.
The only curry we usually eat is a madras which will be too spicy so I'm just asking for advise.
I would think masalla as that is nice and creamy but another problem, I'm on a dairy free diet...
We need a sauce as I'm cheating because I dont want to risk cooking one from scratch and having it all go wrong!
Thanks for taking the time to read

Make your usual masala and put in some creamed coconut. It will thicken it slightly but will reduce the spice and make it quite creamy. The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0

The korma from lidls, very mild and very nice. 75p for a 500g jar I think.0

How about thai curry? Fry off your chicken and whatever veggies, add a couple spoonfuls of thai curry paste, stir round for a few more mins, stir in a can of coconut milk. Very easy (and dairy-free). You can get thai curry paste from the supermarket, tho you usually need most of a jar in my experience, or the hot stuff from chinese/indian shops you only need a spoonful or two.0

Great Idea, the pastes are good value and taste great especially if you are short of time to make your own.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Not offended at all Sarah, but just looked at the list of ingredients on my Sainsbury's basic curry sauce as I couldn't remember seeing much wrong in the ingredients/nutrition when I bought it and sulphur dioxide E220 for preservative is the only bad guy I can see, seems to use Turmeric as colouring and it's low in fat 2g per 100g, which isn't too bad if you ask me:D
Have a look next time you are in the supermarket, can't see much that is in it that I don't put in myself when making a curry sauce from scratch, , obviously you have to put veg and meat in yourself, I would suggest a fruity one with saute apple slices and sliced onions, and may be some pineapple chucnks and extra sultanas along with adding cooked chicken:T
I also use it for my fussy veggie daughter by cooking veg and adding the sauce for a quick meal.:D"Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138

They're not very money saving, but I really like the Masala Masala range of fresh curry sauces. Unfortunately, the creamy one (Shahi) does contain dairy, and the others contain tomatoes! It depends what your guests mean by "lots" of tomatoes, though. The Karahi one does have tomatoes but I wouldn't say it has lots, especially once you add other veg. It's nothing like the jarred sauces and tastes more like a curry from a nice Indian restaurant. If you can afford it (I think it's about £2.99, but you might even need two pots if your guests eat a lot) I think it would be worth it for a dinner party.0
