Anyone tried OptiSlim

Hi there,

I saw an ad on the TV the other night for a new diet called OptiSlim and was just wondering if anyone has tried it, I have had a look at it and it looks like Celebrity Slim (which I have tried) but with different flavours of shakes. Think I might give it a go.

  • As far as I can tell Optislim contains more sugar and tastes slightly better than the Celebrity Slim products. We sell both in the pharmacy I work in but the Otptislim far outsells the Celebrity slim due to the taste. My pharmacist seems to think that both diets work as well as each other providing you follow the plan religiously.
It's only rock 'n' roll, but I like it.

How much does it cost per week/meal? And do you know the protein/carb content per meal replacement? Cheers!
  • I started Optislim just over a week ago and it's going well so far - have lost 6 lbs. I'm having the main meal in the evenings, as I think most people will do and I'm not getting too hungry in the day. The breakfast shakes definitely fill you up more though and are much more easy to tolerate...

Botters - I'm having problems with the tomato soup and dread having it...it's very VERY grainy and smells a bit like sick :( What are your tips for getting it smooth??

Mapcr77 - I bought enough for 3 weeks (1 shake and 1 soup a day) from the Lloyds Pharmacy website and it cost just over £57 (inc. P&P). I didn't buy the suggested fibre supplements though, which cost a bit more.

One tip for everyone using it - it's VERY important to drink lots of water. I've been aiming for 2 litres a day. I thought it was just another way of drumming it into us that we should all be drinking more water and I didn't pay much attention to start with but then the other day I didn't drink anything for a couple of hours and started feeling really sick and dizzy. Went away as soon as I had a drink.

Good luck if you start with it lynsayloo! :D
  • hi jess glad to hear your doing well on optislim...6lbs is a good result welldone!!...re. tomato soup i just followed the instructions on pack.. made a smooth paste first with warm water in a mug... then added boiling water... then stirred well...funnily enough i found the lemon cheesecake shake a bit grainy this morning ...going to have creamy chicken for lunch today have you tried that yet?.....still not been able to find how to obtain my 8 digit number so i can register tried phoning number on back of pack and left a message but not had a reply yet....have you managed to register?
Mapcr77.the starter pack costs £31.99 for 8 days supply..also contains your shaker... and meal plan and recipe booklet....single shakes are about £1.79 each they are on offer at the moment at lloydas 3 for 2.....not sure about the meals as i'm not sure if i will use them yet as there are great options in the booklet....average calorie per shake is 200 hope that helps.....bye for now donna x
  • oops mapcr77 just noticed in the above that you have allready purchased:o.......good luck donna
  • Sorry I haven't replied for so long!

I have had the chicken soup, I quite like it but it tastes a bit like chicken skin to me...if you know what I mean?? Like, very strong chicken flavour.

I finally managed to get the tomato soup smooth! Still not too fond of the cheesy taste in it, but at least now it's not grainy! I've decided I can't deal with the strawberry shake - it's way too sweet and is giving me sugar cravings in the afternoon. What was the lemon cheesecake one like? I might try that next...which other ones have you tried?

No I never did register, I couldn't find my code either and couldn't be bothered to enquire about it. I wouldn't use the food diary or recipes anyway!

    Hello,

I am the Company Nutritionist for Optislim and having read your posts I thought it would be useful for me to explain the Optislim weight management programme to you all.

    The Programme:

Each day 2 meals are replaced with Optislim shakes or soups (usually breakfast and lunch) and a 3rd, well balanced meal is also eaten.

The shakes and soups are considered a balanced meal as they contain carbohydrate (around 22g per shake), protein (around 16.8g per shake)and fat (around 5g per shake) and contain a blend of 25 vitamins and minerals, so you don't have to worry that your diet will be lacking in vital nutrients. In addition the shakes and soups are free from artificial colours and flavours and are suitable for those with lactose intolerance as the shakes are made up with water rather than milk.

With regard to the soups, it is important to make them up according to packet instructions to avoid the lumpy / grainy texture that some of you are experiencing.

By enjoying a 3rd, well balanced meal each day the programme helps you to re-educate your palate and your portion sizes so that once you have reached your target weight, you are less likely to slip back into old habits and that way you will keep the weight off.

The programme encourages you to eat regularly which means mid morning and mid afternoon snacks are important, these are usually around 100 calories each and will help to reduce sugar cravings between meals.

Although the programme is calorie controlled, no foods are banned / restricted which means that as long as you stay within your daily calorie limit, you can enjoy all foods. However, you will quickly learn that you can consume far larger amounts of fruit, vegetables, lean protein and wholegrain foods than the less healthy alternatives!

We encourage you to drink plenty of water whilst on the programme as this keeps the body well hydrated, flushes out toxins and reduces false hunger sensations. Two litres of water per day is ideal.

Tea and coffee are permitted on the diet, but remember that the calories in the milk and sugar will need to be accounted for. Replacing regular tea and coffee with herbal tea is a good way to increase fluid intake without adding caffeine or extra calories to the diet.

The shakes and soups do not contain fibre. Fibre is an important part of the diet as it helps to keep your digestive system healthy and eliminate waste. Both soluble and insoluble fibre are important and can be obtained from whole grains, fruits and vegetables eaten in the diet. As you will be replacing 2 meals per day with shakes it is likely that you may need added fibre in your diet and we therefore recommend purchasing the Optislim Fibre pot to add to your shakes. The Optislim fibre is soluble and tasteless so it won't alter the flavour or consistency of your shakes, but it will help to prevent imbalances in your digestive system.

    The Range:

There are currently 9 different flavour shakes and 2 different flavour soups in the range.

There are also 5 different meal options which you can use to create your well balanced 3rd meal if you wish, but this is not compulsory.

    The Cost:

The best way to begin is to purchase the Optislim starter pack priced at £31.99. This provides an 8 day supply of shakes and soups and contains each of the flavours in the range.

Once the starter pack has finished you can then move onto purchasing single shakes priced at £1.79 each OR you can buy a whole box of 7 of the same flavour. Boxes of 7 are currently on offer at £10 per box which brings the price of each shake down to £1,43 each!

The Fibre Pot is £9.99 and 1-3 spoons are recommended each day.

    Where to Purchase:

The Optislim weight management programme is exclusive to Lloyds Pharmacy. You can purchase Optislim directly from your local Lloyds store or on their website.

Purchasing any of the Optislim products gives you access to our Club Optislim website which allows you to track you weight loss, menu plan, access to the food database to build recipes and ask questions or gain support on our forum. so when you come off the shakes and soups and start eating solid food again, how unlikely is it that you WILL NOT regain any of the weight you have lost?
