Fair dues, they emailed me and told me that my web tariff was coming to an end and that my account would switch to 'Standard' tariff from a certain date.
So I acted fast and got on the price comparison sites and made the best switch I could find.
However, this didn't stop me from suffering the daylight robbery heist that turned out to be BG's Standard tariff charges for 10 days. How does nearly £10 a day for electricity sound in a house where people are out at work during the day?
During their 'heist period', they had the cheek to ring me up on no less than 3 occasions to ask me why I was leaving them. How about:
"You're robbing me blind whilst I stand here - please let me go!"
So the lesson is; time your switch BEFORE it drops to your suppliers Standard tariff (as long as you won't incur a penalty fee for ending the contract early) or face being turned over by Highwayman like tactics!

"How does nearly £10 a day for electricity sound in a house where people are out at work during the day?"
It sounds like someone who isn't giving the full facts in terms of time on the tarriff or the meter readings provided, or debt on a direct debit payment.
At the max tier one tarriff of 24.461p per unit £10 is 41kWh per day. Possible if you leave an immersion heater on.0 -

So you were really charged £100 for 10 days electricty from the date your previous tariff ended until the day your tariff was terminated.
What were the meter readings ? Ho many Kwh used during these 10 days ?
Did you read/supply a reading on the day your web tariff was ending ?

FF - I think we can safely say they weren't charged £100 for ten days electricity.
I expect the final 'sweep up' bill was £100, which isn't quite the same as they are making out.

EPILOGUE
Out of the blue, I received a cheque from British Gas for roughly half my money back. Turns out they'd overcharged me after all. God knows how, but they had. Money in the bank now anyway.0
