Medical cost dilemma - what is fair to pay?

Hi,
I wondered if anyone had any views that might help me establish what is responsible in the following situation.
I am in need of a form of therapy that is not available on the NHS. I went to an extremely expensive London therapist because I had been recommended to see him and explained that I could not afford to continue with him but did he recommend anyone who I could afford?
He very kindly and unexpectedly offered to reduce his £225/hr fee for me and let me pay 'whatever you can.' I am currently earning the equivalent of JSA, as I work but am self employed in a business that has not yet made any money to speak of and am living with family. In light of the massive normal fee what is a minimum respectable amount? I don't want to be insulting or appear to be taking the p**s out of his kind offer but really can't meet even 50% of the charge.
Thanks!
