need advise dealing wth a debt collector

hi,
a while back i had a "friend" live in my house who left overnight without paying me the last months rent. i hired a debt collector to retrieve the money. apparently they have recieved the money almost immediately. another 2 weeks went by as they waited for it to clear so there would be no disputes. then 4 weeks went by of me trying to get them to give me the money.
the latest thing is every time i call i get given this idiot clerk who is "unable to tell me when the head bailiff is coming back to the office". this boss's phone has also been off for the past week.
any suggestions of what to do? the amount is for 300 pounds and i am very in need of the money.
thanks

Send a letter recorded delivery giving 14 days for you money to be paid minus their fees , if they dont pay go to the small claims court with your evidence they will give you all the help you need and explain how to proceed , it does not cost much it is easyGRADUATED FIRST CLASS WITH HONORS FROM THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS RECOMENDED READ IF BY RUDYARD KIPLING0

As with anything financially related your best keeping it written and sent recorded delivery as phonecalls arent worth much in court.
I'd go with Wrinkles advice. Seems like theyre fobbing you off now.0 -
I have also experienced exactly the same sitiation enigman - have you had any luck on payment?0

Maybe a complaint to the police might suddenly make the money appear your way (not 999)0

I think the police will be especially useless with a problem like thisMaybe a complaint to the police might suddenly make the money appear your way (not 999)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Hi enigman,
I am not sure what the outcome was for you? Did you ever recieve your cash?
There has been some recent interesting atricles in the national and local media regarding Nigel Marsh and his dept collecting companys
As I cannot post links if you google search "Nigel Marsh Daily Mirror" and "Nigel Marsh Cambs Times 24" ( you may see a few Nigel Marsh results for the Cambs Times 24 website, but the others might show what type of Man Nigel is)0
