How long have you had the card? The wife has a LLoyds card that she's had for about 20 years+. We're hoping that it will be unenforceable. That said, I thought the same of my 13 year old MBNA - no such luck!

Have you done a statement of affairs and is £5 all you can afford? I did one with the CCCS even though I'm not using them for my DMP.

Most importantly though, get a second basic account. Get your wages (or whatever) paid into that. Do that now (in the morning).

As they haven't accepted your F&F, just keep paying the £5 and see what happens.

  • Hi,

Just a quick update, have not had any response from Barclaycard regarding my 40% offer - not even a letter of refusal. How long do you think I should give them to respond before offering it to Egg?

Incidently I have had a default notice from Barclaycard in the post instead (I should point out that technically I defaulted 3 years ago when I entered my dmp. Nothing has changed since, payments same and not late/missed).

I seem to have my debts with the worst companies to deal with - grr!

I'm really interested on how this goes for you as i am in a similar situation - I owe over 20,000 to 6 different creditors but have been offered help by my parents to pay some of this if i can get reduced full and final payements.

So far i've had nothing back from anyone except Experto Credite (MBNA) who have offered 4122 from a 5890 cc. I still can't afford this - how many offers should i make? Do i just keep doing it while paying my DMP amount?

    Gl all :)

I would give them up to a month. Barclaycard took the longest to respond from mine although they declined my 40% offer they did ask me to call to discuss a higher offer. I just wrote back saying that was as high as I could go and I am now awaiting another response.

Just keep paying your DMP and every month or so send a renewed Full and Final offer letter. I would only increase by a very small amount if by anything at all. You never know they may realise that is all you have to offer and eventually accept. You have nothing to lose by trying.

    Good Luck!!

Bcard are right wangers - I asked them for a CCA 4 months ago and they couldnt provide it - just reams of gibberish that they thought would fob me off - well it didnt ( thanks to NID )

they then went down the MERCERS then CAULDERS then AIC route and NID again gave me something to repeat down the phone to them ..........and now they have gone ! :)

they ( CC providers ) have saved thousands by not storing the CCA records properly ( I keep mine for 6 years in the loft ) and getting kids on minimum wage to scan what they have got - so this is what they get for pennypinching

they win some - they lose some
As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question ! ;)
  • Hey guys,

    Just thought i'd chip in.

Have had a debt of around £2000 with Lloyds which I've (foolishly) been avoiding for around 2 years now. Finally got a new letter through advising I need to set up a weekly payment plan, or face collectors/court etc. Called them today and she immediately offered 50% to settle. I couldn't agree as didn't have £1000 to hand, however, am now paying off £100 per. month.

Reckon after a few months I could write to them with an offer to reduce it?

Also, this CCA - could I write to them and ask for a copy? It wasn't a loan or anything with Lloyds, it was an overdraft that got a bit out of hand - they let me up it online, to around £1600 at a click of a button.

    Any help appreciated :)

    Tom

Well any longer than a month is silly, how long has it been so far? If it's been 2 weeks you might resend the same letter again just to make sure they read it?
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(
